Electric car sales in Russia have more than halved


In January 2025, 652 new electric cars were sold in Russia, which is 56% less than in the same month last year (1485 units). This was reported by the analytical agency "Avtostat" on February 24. The share of electric cars in the car market in the first month of this year amounted to only 0.6%, while in January 2024 this figure was about three times higher - 1.9%.
Among the brands, the leader in terms of sales in Russia was the Chinese Zeekr with 283 units, although the brand is not officially represented on the Russian market. Next are domestic brands Moskvich and Evolute (60 and 40 units, respectively). Chinese brands Ora (37 units) and BYD (36 units) completed the top five.
Zeekr 001 became the leader in model rating (156 units), followed by Moskvich 3 (60 units), Zeekr 009 (44 units) and Zeekr 7X (41 units). Ora 03 (28 units) rounded out the top five.
Earlier, on February 10, it was reported that Xiaomi Auto electric cars may officially appear on the Russian market. This follows from the statement of representatives of the Chinese concern Sinomach Auto, which is represented in Russia by car brands Oting and Rox. Sinomach Auto officially entered the Russian market in 2023.
On February 4, it became known that at the end of 2024, residents of the Russian Federation bought 12.3 thousand used electric cars, which is 18% more than in 2023, and is a record high. The leader of the secondary market of electric cars was Nissan (4.9 thousand units), it accounted for 40% of the total volume.
