The EU said it was preparing the 17th package of anti-Russian sanctions


The European Union (EU) plans to prepare the 17th package of anti-Russian sanctions. This was announced by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas at a press conference in Brussels on February 24.
"We took an important decision - we approved the 16th package of sanctions. And we will continue to work on the 17th package," APA news agency quoted her as saying.
The timing of the possible introduction of sanctions is not specified.
Earlier in the day, the EU foreign ministers approved the 16th package of sanctions against Russia. The sanctions list included 48 individuals and 35 organizations. In addition, it was decided to ban 13 banks from access to the SWIFT system. Restrictions are also imposed on imports of chrome, some chemicals and on the maintenance of oil and gas processing plants.
