The European Union (EU) foreign ministers have not reached an agreement on a new initiative on military aid to Ukraine for the current year. This was reported by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas on 24 February.

She noted that the details and volume of military aid will be discussed at the EU summit to be held on March 6.

"We discussed the initiative, but decisions and amounts will be discussed at the EU summit on March 6," she said at a press conference following the EU Council meeting in Brussels, the broadcast was published by the European External Action Service (EEAS) on the social network X (former Twitter).

On the same day, European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen said during her visit to Kiev that the EU would provide Ukraine with €3.5bn in financial aid.

On 22 February, Bloomberg reported that the EU was negotiating a new military aid package worth €20bn for Ukraine. The package will include artillery ammunition, air defense systems, precision-guided missiles, drones and other weapons.
