The USA is not discussing Ukraine 's possible accession to the North Atlantic Alliance. This was stated on Sunday, February 24, by Michael Waltz, national security adviser to the President of the United States.

"Ukraine's membership in NATO is not being discussed," Interfax quoted him as saying.

At the same time, Waltz noted that the United States would support Ukraine's security guarantees from Britain and France.

The US presidential adviser also expressed the opinion that the agreement on minerals in Ukraine would be concluded.

On 22 February, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Ukraine would not join NATO, but would become a buffer zone between the alliance and Russia. According to him, the conflict arose because the alliance tried to take control over Ukrainian territory. However, the West did not take into account that Russia would not stay on the sidelines in such a development, Orban said.
