Interior Ministry to give Niger's ambassadors their own license plate code

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has drawn up a draft order according to which the list of digital codes used on the State registration plates of vehicles of diplomatic missions and consular offices will be expanded. The document, which is published on the Federal portal of draft regulatory legal acts, was familiarized by Izvestia.
The list of digital codes is planned to be supplemented by line 157 with the Republic of Niger, which embassy cars are proposed to be assigned the code 172 on the license plates. At the end of February, by order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia from December 19 last year, the document included a line with the Republic of Honduras, which was assigned the code 171.
Earlier, on February 23, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russia plans to open its diplomatic missions in Niger, Sierra Leone and South Sudan in the near future. She noted that Russian embassies in Burkina Faso and Equatorial Guinea started their work in 2023. The embassies in Niger and Sierra Leone, where diplomatic work will be resumed after it was stopped in 1992 for financial reasons, are to be opened next.
