FT says US calls for withdrawal of resolution against Russia authored by EU and Ukraine

TheUSA has called for the withdrawal of the draft anti-Russian resolution authored by the European Union (EU) and Ukraine, which will be voted on by the UN General Assembly. This was reported by the Financial Times (FT) on February 24, citing sources.

"According to two officials involved in the discussions, the United States called for the withdrawal of the resolution," - stated in the material.

It is noted that the United States put forward its text, according to which "the actions of the Ukrainian side are equated with the actions of the Russian Federation". According to sources, the confrontation may reach the UN Security Council, where Washington may take the sides of Moscow and Beijing.

The UN General Assembly is expected to vote on February 24 at 23:00 Moscow time.

The Bloomberg agency learned about the US intention to block the resolution of Ukraine against Russia in the UN on February 22. It was specified that the US draft resolution did not stipulate the principles of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, although they were clearly spelled out in the previous UN resolutions supported by the USA.
