The Investigative Committee has opened a case over the death of a worker at a factory in Kurgan

In Kurgan a criminal case has been initiated over the death of a 28-year-old factory worker in the performance of professional duties. This is reported by the Investigation Department of the Investigation Committee of Russia for Kurgan region on Monday, February 24.

The tragedy occurred on February 13 in the workshop of one of the plants located in the city. According to investigators, a 28-year-old young man, who was performing work on the packaging of parts, suffered when the gate valve was torn off the hinge of the crane beam.

The employee of the enterprise received a blunt trauma to the abdomen and was hospitalized, but, as specified in the SK, "despite the medical care provided to him later died".

A criminal case has been opened under part 2 of article 143 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of labor protection requirements that caused the death of a person by negligence". Investigators are questioning employees of the plant and eyewitnesses, and also demanded documentation concerning the issues of compliance with labor safety requirements at the facility.

According to Ura.ru, the results of the investigation will help determine the degree of responsibility of the management and other employees of the plant for the incident.

On February 19, it was reported that a release of a chemically hazardous substance occurred at a plant in the Saratov Region, resulting in the death of one worker and injury to another. According to Izvestiya's source, there may have been an ammonia leak at the enterprise.
