Spain is going to send Ukraine a new military aid package worth €1bn, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said in the social network X (former Twitter) on 24 February.

According to him, a "just and lasting peace" must be achieved in Ukraine, on which the future of all Europeans depends.

"That is why I have just announced in Kiev that Spain will send a new €1 billion military aid package to the Ukrainian people," he wrote.

In his opinion, diplomacy alone is not enough and must be combined with "greater strength and unity."

Earlier in the day, The Copenhagen Post quoted the Danish government office as saying that the Danish authorities had decided to allocate additional aid to Ukraine in the amount of $280m. According to the newspaper, the Danish Foreign Ministry also reported that Kiev had been allocated an additional $56.7m in civilian support.
