Sinomach imposed blocking of unofficial Rox cars in Russian Federation

With the start of sales of Rox 01 SUVs in Russia, the Chinese automaker has introduced a control system for vehicles not intended for the local market. This is stated in a statement of the Sinomach concern, which was received by Izvestia on February 24.

"In case such cars are detected outside China, all multimedia screens will be disabled with a recommendation to contact dealers. At the same time, the blocking will not affect cars imported into Russia before December 2024," the company said.

Sales of Rox 01 cars in Russia began last week. The first car sold was an SUV in the color "white diamond", the buyer was a resident of Moscow. The company noted that the car was bought from the dealer Varshavka, which previously worked under the scheme of parallel import and was one of the first to receive the status of official.

Rox 01 is presented in two configurations, the price starts from 9.17 million rubles. The SUV has a 1.5 gasoline engine is not connected to the wheels and acts as a generator. The powertrain with a total output of 476 hp (740 Nm) consists of a CATL battery pack (56 kW⋅h), two electric motors on each axle and a classic internal combustion engine.

Earlier, on February 10, it was reported that Xiaomi Auto electric cars may officially appear on the Russian market. This follows from the statement of representatives of the Chinese concern Sinomach Auto, which is represented in Russia by the car brands Oting and Rox. Sinomach Auto officially entered the Russian market in 2023.

At the same time, on October 22 last year it became known that Oting plans to introduce a compact crossover and a full-size SUV in Russia. They will be models based on Nissan Qashqai and Patrol.
