FAS fined four banks for distributing inappropriate advertising

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has fined Alfa-Bank, Gazprombank, VTB and T-Bank for distribution of inappropriate advertising. This was reported on February 24 in the press service of the agency's website.

"The service initiated proceedings against the organizations, recognized their advertising as inappropriate, issued orders to stop violations of the law on advertising, as well as imposed administrative fines on the banks for its placement. The total amount of fines amounted to more than 2.2 million rubles," - stated in the message.

According to the agency, advertising Alfa-Bank contained attractive information about a free account for investment. However, other information was presented in an explanatory footnote in small print for a short time. In another of the slogans, the organization did not present objective comparison criteria.

In addition, Gazprombank's advertisement contained information about the deposit rate of 22%. But there was no information about other conditions of the deposit, which affected the amount of income. This violation was also committed by VTB Bank with a deposit rate of 20%, which provided additional information about the financial service for a short period of time, making it difficult for the consumer to perceive.

While T-Bank placed an advertising banner of Kaspersky Safe Kids in its mobile application without indicating the advertiser or its website.

On February 17, the Federal Antimonopoly Service recognized Promsvyazbank's credit card advertisement as inappropriate. It was noted that the data and other information were presented in an explanatory footnote in small print for a short period of time. In the agency's opinion, this prevented consumers from receiving the information they needed to make an informed choice about all the terms and conditions of the financial service.
