AvtoVAZ has rejected 21 thousand electromechanical power steering units (EPS) produced by Kaluga-based Avtoelektronika JSC. This was reported by Samarskoye Obozrenie on February 24, citing several sources.

"Avtoelektronika" supplies EPS to AvtoVAZ since 2006 - for Priora, Granta and Vesta models. According to the publication, the continuation of its cooperation with AvtoVAZ may now be in question. After the company made changes in the design of EPS a year ago, the number of complaints began to increase - noises, squeaks, increase in complaints. At the same time, the rejection was not carried out at once, it is the result of accumulative effect.

AvtoVAZ refused to comment on cooperation with the supplier, noting only that the automaker pays critical attention to the quality of supplied components, and in case of detection of cases of non-compliance with the declared parameters, a decision may be taken up to blocking the entire batch of parts.

The company noted that there is no question of stopping the assembly line because of the situation with ESCs. According to the sources of the publication, AvtoVAZ will cover the gap with an alternative supplier.

February 21, it was reported that applications for registration of new trademarks Lada Yarus and Lada Yashma appeared in the open database of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS). It is possible that these names in the future will receive promising Lada models.

February 20, AvtoVAZ said that turbocharged engines have a more complex design than atmospheric engines, are very sensitive to the quality of service and consumables, as well as more expensive by at least 50%. Thus, the company explained why there are no turbo engines in the Lada lineup.
