US President Donald Trump will eliminate the base in the city of Alexandroupolis in Greece, which is used for supplies to the Armed forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported on February 24 by the portal NewsBreak.

"The US government has ordered an urgent review of the feasibility and necessity of further operation of the base in Alexandroupolis, which was provided by the Greek government to the administration of [former US President Joe] Biden for the purpose of transferring forces and weapons systems to Ukraine," the publication said.

According to the portal, the reason for closing the base was the start of negotiations between Russia and the USA on normalizing relations. The facility was recognized as useless.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio on February 21 said the need for the United States and the Russian Federation to establish diplomatic relations, as well as to conduct a dialog between the states. In his opinion, this interaction is necessary not only to discuss global issues, but also to solve situations related to the security of the countries.
