There were 346 traffic accidents in Russia over the weekend

Over the past weekend and holidays, 346 traffic accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 50 people were killed and 444 injured. 36 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Monday, February 24, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 92 accidents, 42 of which occurred at crosswalks and 50 outside their zone of action, 14 pedestrians were killed, another 80 were injured of varying severity. Among the injured pedestrians were 14 children under the age of 16, eight of whom were injured while crossing the roadway at a crosswalk.

On Saturday and Sunday 15 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which three people were killed and 21 other road users, including children, were injured. Seven accidents involving buses were caused by violations of traffic rules committed by their drivers.

There were 42 accidents involving minors, in which 50 young road users were injured, including 33 passengers. Three children died, one of whom was a pedestrian and two others were passengers.

Thus, in the Komi Republic on a regional highway the driver of a passenger car overtook a car and drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with another passenger car, which then drove into the lane of the perpetrator of the accident and there collided with a truck. The accident killed two passengers in the second passenger car, including a four-year-old boy who was in a child restraint in the front seat. The driver of the same vehicle and another minor passenger, a 15-year-old who was in the back row and wearing a seat belt, as well as a passenger in the first car were hospitalized with injuries. The offender himself, whose actions led to the creation of an emergency situation, was sent for outpatient treatment after medical care.

Seat belt plugs and covers will be outlawed

On a regional highway in the Irkutsk region under similar circumstances the driver of a crossover collided with another passenger car on the oncoming lane. A 13-year-old boy-passenger, who was on the back row of seats without using a seat belt, died in the "oncoming" car. The driver of the crossover received bodily injuries and after medical care was sent for outpatient treatment.

In addition, in one of the settlements of the Kemerovo region in the evening a young female driver of a passenger car hit a 14-year-old schoolgirl, who suddenly began to run across the roadway outside the crosswalk. As a result of the accident the minor pedestrian died.

The traffic police drew the attention of parents to the necessity of constant control over winter leisure of minor children on weekends and holidays, as well as during school vacations. It is not necessary to leave them unattended, it is important to try to accompany them personally to additional classes, to developmental "circles" or sports sections. It is recommended to equip the clothes of children with retroreflective elements to make them more visible to drivers in the dark or dusk.
