A man was arrested in Stavropol region on the case of preparing a terrorist attack

In Stavropol region, a man was arrested for two months on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack. This was reported on February 24 by the official Telegram channel of the courts of the region.

It is specified that the defendant purchased components for the manufacture of an improvised explosive device. He left them in a cache in the area of the Park of Culture and Recreation "Victory. His accomplices were to take the explosive device from there and lay it in the designated place.

The man is accused under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Preparing to commit a terrorist act").

"Having considered the petition of the investigator, having examined the submitted materials, the court concluded to satisfy the petition of the investigator and elected the accused gr. O. measure of restraint in the form of detention for 1 month 29 days, that is, until April 18, 2025", - stated in the message.

The National Anti-Terrorist Committee on December 10, 2024 reported on the prevention of 190 terrorist attacks in Russia in 2024. According to its data, last year law enforcement agencies neutralized 38 and detained more than 1.7 thousand bandits and their accomplices, suppressed about 2.7 thousand crimes in the sphere of illegal arms trafficking and seized more than 100 thousand firearms and more than 5.5 thousand explosive devices.
