Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry says Sputnik editorial office closed in the country


Azerbaijan has abolished the representative office of the Rossiya Segodnya media group (Sputnik Azerbaijan) in the country. This was announced by the official representative of the Foreign Ministry of the republic Ayhan Hajizadeh on February 23.
"The representative office of Russia Today (Sputnik) in Azerbaijan has been abolished," he said in a conversation with the Report agency.
Hajizadeh specified that the company can receive accreditation for only one correspondent in Azerbaijan. At the same time, the press service of Rossiya Segodnya told RIA Novosti that it had not received any official notifications about the abolition of the representative office.
Hajizadeh said on February 6 that Russia had received a note on the termination of the Russian Information and Cultural Center (Russian House) in Baku.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Moscow was ready to resolve the issue of the center's registration. According to her, Russia has repeatedly offered to discuss it through diplomatic channels in the framework of consultations.
