Political analyst names Trump's possible target for blame for Ukraine conflict

Former US leader Joe Biden may become a target of US President Donald Trump for accusations of unleashing conflict in Ukraine. This was stated by Denis Denisov, an expert of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, to Izvestia on February 24.
On the eve of the special envoy of the US President for the Middle East Steven Whitkoff said on CNN that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine was provoked, and therefore was inevitable. According to him, at the time of its start, there were discussions about Kiev joining NATO, which was unacceptable for Russia. He also emphasized that the West should accept that talk of Ukraine's admission to the alliance was a threat to Russia.
"It looks quite attractive (for Trump. - Ed.) to appoint Joe Biden and his administration guilty in the beginning of the conflict destruction of relations with Russia. And they may even emphasize the figure of the former president himself, based on his age and health difficulties," he said.
In addition, Denisov noted, the ideal candidate is former U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
On February 21, Trump said that he does not see Russia's fault in the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine. In his opinion, it occurred because of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky as well as Biden.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia is impressed by the position of the new administration in Washington on the settlement of the situation in Ukraine. According to him, the new US administration has different views - they say that it is necessary to establish peace as soon as possible and to do it through negotiations.
On 23 February, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said that the next talks between the Russian Federation and the USA would be held at the end of next week. The diplomat noted that Moscow expects real progress from them. The first stage of talks between the Russian and US delegations took place on February 18 in Riyadh.
