- Mishustin said that child allowance will not be taken into account when assessing neediness

In Russia, the amount of child allowances will not be taken into account as income when assessing the neediness of a family. This was announced by Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin on February 24.
He specified that the relevant changes were approved by the Russian government in a decree.
"On the instructions of the President [of Russia Vladimir Putin], the government has improved the rule of granting a social contract. Now, payments for a single allowance in connection with the birth and upbringing of a child, which are received by needy families, will not be taken into account when assigning it," he said.
Mishustin added that this amount will not be included in the calculation of the average per capita income when formalizing the necessary support. Thanks to the innovation it will be possible to additionally conclude about 118 thousand social contracts annually.
In January 2025, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation Anton Kotyakov reported on the recalculation of benefits and pensions that will be paid to Russians in 2025. Initially, their amount was raised by the projected inflation rate of 7.3%. However, Rosstat considered that the actual figure exceeded the expected percentage, amounting to 9.5%. After that, Putin instructed to carry out additional indexation of social payments, allowances and compensations.
