Russians told about their concerns about online fraudsters

Almost 50% of Russians surveyed expressed concern that their children may become victims of fraudsters via mobile devices and computers, according to a survey by PRO32. Izvestia reported its results on February 24.
Among other threats, respondents named the ability of gadgets to distract a child from learning and real communication (40%). 13% of respondents are convinced that their children may encounter dangerous people on the Internet.
More than half of respondents (57%) are ready to give a mobile device to a child from the beginning of school - from six to eight years old. Every fourth parent believes that a child can be given his or her own phone from the age of 9-12 years, and 15% of respondents - from 13 years and older.
At the same time, 70% are convinced that parental control should be mandatory on all children's devices. 18% believe it is necessary to monitor the safety of children only at the beginning of active use of the Internet, and 10% of parents install a parental control program for children when they receive a personal phone.
According to 51% of respondents, control over children should be maintained until the age of 18. At the same time, 20% of parents believe that it is possible to stop controlling children after they have mastered the basics of digital safety, and 22% - as trust increases, when the child demonstrates openness and honesty when communicating about their Internet activity. The smallest group (6%) were respondents who would be willing to turn off parental controls once they reach adolescence (ages 12-15).
"Parental control and protection of children on the Internet is becoming increasingly relevant in the face of today's threats. Since many people already live with a gadget in their hand since childhood, the development of cyber hygiene is becoming a top priority. At the same time, it is important that children are not only aware of the risks, but also know how to make informed decisions in the online space. Our research confirms that many parents realize the importance of these measures and are ready to apply various tools to ensure the digital safety of their children," said Igor Mandik, CEO of PRO32.
To ensure the protection of children online, parents discuss safety rules with the child (25%), install antivirus on devices (23%), use parental control applications and check the child's gadgets (18%), as well as set limits on the time of Internet use (15%).
Earlier in the day it was reported that VTB experts have identified a new scheme of fraudsters on the Internet. Web users, suspecting that they are trying to cheat on the phone, begin to look for advice for protection on forums, but together they find resources where scammers are active. Communicating in such chat rooms results in financial losses.
