Two men were detained in St. Petersburg for hacking into accounts and stealing on marketplaces

In St. Petersburg, police detained two residents of Vsevolozhsky district, who hacked into the accounts of users of marketplaces in order to steal goods. This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk on February 24.

It is noted that the attackers, using special programs, picked up logins and passwords to personal accounts of users, after which they ordered expensive equipment in installments. Having taken the order from the delivery point, the detainees resold them through online stores.

Law enforcement authorities conducted a search of the residence of the defendants, which resulted in the seizure of unsold appliances, laptops, cell phones, bank and SIM cards and other items obtained illegally.

It is noted that at the moment 11 accounts of residents of St. Petersburg, whose data were stolen, have been established.

The publication specifies that a criminal case was initiated under article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud). At the moment, the investigation continues.
