A captured serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Yevhen Kurylo, has told how he was tricked into being sent to the front line from an air defense unit. A video of his story was released by the Russian Defense Ministry on 24 February.

He said that he was mobilized by summons and got to the territorial manning center (TCC, an analogue of a military recruitment office).

"And then for failure to fulfill the commissar's orders I was transferred. The commissar said that you are going to the 152nd [brigade], it is normal there, you will be in the rear, everything is normal there," the military officer noted.

However, later, according to Kurilo, the moves began, as a result of which he found himself on the front line. The Ukrainian military appealed for help to the command, but received only the answer, "Well, hold on."

"Driving, the automatic rifles were even without magazines. I gave away my store, we discounted a store or two, who had what we had," said the AFU prisoner.

On February 13, the AFU prisoner Valentin Makarenko admitted that he had paid $2,000 to a military financier in order to get into the border troops rather than to be on the front line. However, despite the paid place, he ended up in Kursk Region, where he surrendered.
