Workers in Krasnoyarsk region detained for stealing more than a ton of metal

In Krasnoyarsk region transport police detained suspects in the theft of more than a ton of metal. This was reported on February 24 by the Siberian Transport Police in its Telegram channel.

It is noted that criminal investigation officers in the course of operational-search activities at Achinsk station detained two employees of the transport company on suspicion of stealing an alloy of babbitt.

"Transport police established that from March 2024 to January 2025, the men stole ingots and shavings of babbitt, took them out of the territory of the enterprise on a personal car and handed them over to a scrap metal collection point," - said in a statement of the department.

During the next sale of metal the attackers were detained by law enforcement officers. During the search they seized stolen goods and found money. The total weight of stolen babbitt for several months exceeded a thousand kilograms. The damage caused to the transport company amounted to almost 600 thousand rubles.

Transport police specify that a criminal case under part 3 of article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Theft") was initiated against the defendants.
