More than 80 UK residents have died as a result of diabetes and weight loss drugs, including Ozempic and Tirzepatide. This was reported by the Daily Mail tabloid on February 23.

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has reported at least 22 deaths linked to these drugs as of the end of January.

In addition, another 60 deaths have been reported in connection with the drugs, which are intended to treat type II diabetes.

"In the past few years since the introduction of these products, nearly 400 people have also required hospitalization," the newspaper added.

It is also reported that around 35 people have died after taking Saxenda and Victoza products.

"Experts and organizations such as the Society of Emergency Medicine have called for tighter restrictions on prescribing Ozempic, Tirzepatide and other weight-loss drugs," the paper said.

Earlier, on February 10, the Daily Mail told about a woman from the United States who took an injection of Ozempic and woke up the next morning blind in her left eye. She stopped taking the drug after that, but had to take it again because of her diabetes. Two weeks later, she lost sight in her right eye as well.
