Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar will meet with senior European officials in Brussels on Monday to resume dialog with the European Union. Reuters reported on February 23 that.

"Saar will co-chair a meeting of the EU-Israel Association Council together with EU foreign policy chief Kaya Kallas in the first such session since 2022," the agency informed.

It is specified that the talks will focus on the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, Israeli-Palestinian relations and the changing regional dynamics.

According to the agency, before the meeting, the 27 member countries of the bloc agreed on a compromise position in which areas of cooperation with Israel are not only welcomed but also feared.

According to a draft document seen by Reuters, at the meeting the EU will emphasize both Europe's commitment to Israel's security and its view that "displaced Gazans should be allowed to return to their homes in the Gaza Strip in safety and dignity."

On this day, it was reported that Tel Aviv had postponed the release of 620 Palestinian prisoners until the freedom of the following Israeli hostages "without humiliating ceremonies." The release was to have taken place on Saturday.

The day before, the Palestinian Hamas movement handed over six hostages to representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) noted that commanders and soldiers of the Israeli army welcomed and embraced the returning hostage.

Earlier, on February 21, it became known that Israel is going to release more than 600 Palestinian prisoners, including 50 people sentenced to life imprisonment. According to the agency, 445 prisoners from the Gaza Strip, who were arrested after October 7, 2023, will also be released.
