White House backs Israel in decision to delay extradition of Palestinian prisoners

Washington supported Israel's decision to postpone the release of 600 Palestinian prisoners because of the "barbaric treatment" of Israeli hostages by the radical Hamas movement. This was reported by Reuters on February 23, citing a statement by the representative of the National Security Council of the United States, Brian Hughes.
According to him, the postponement of the release of prisoners is an "adequate response" to the treatment of hostages by Hamas.
In addition, it is noted that the American leader Donald Trump is ready to support Israel in "any course of action it chooses to take against Hamas."
On the same day, Israel postponed the release of more than 600 Palestinian prisoners until the freedom of the next Israeli hostages is secured "without humiliating ceremonies." Israel's announcement thus put the future of the truce in doubt.
