Trial to begin in Moscow over owner of pharmacy illegally selling Ozempik

On February 25, Lefortovsky District Court of Moscow will start to consider on the merits the criminal case of the owners of the Moscow pharmacy "Impact", which illegally sold the drug "Ozempik".
According to the investigation, the enterprising couple, where the wife was not only the owner of the legal entity, but also a doctor at a Moscow polyclinic, began trading the mega-popular drug even before the official withdrawal of its manufacturer from the country and continued to do so after the completion of official deliveries, Ekaterina Ilyinykh, an investigator at the Lefortovo Investigative Department in Moscow, told Izvestia.
"We believe that they have been illegally trading Ozempik since at least 2022, but they were caught by the hand only in December 2023. During the control purchase, they "past the cash register" sold the drug reserved in advance by the client," - said the investigator.
Now the beneficiary of the pharmacy "Impact" (formerly located on Gospitalny Val Street) Nargiz Shapieva and pharmacist Yasmina Alikulieva face real prison time for illegal trade in unregistered and substandard drugs and provision of services that do not meet safety requirements.
"Ozempik" continues to be the most popular weight loss drug in the world, and in Russia it is still actively sold in the gray zone, Alexander Nosenko, head of the Center for the Protection of Right Holders at the international association "Antikontrafakt", told "Izvestia". Drugs that came to Russia from Kazakhstan or Turkey have no quality documents, no one has checked them for authenticity, he noted.
"Therefore, no one will tell you what you are buying: fake or original," he said.
