Murashko spoke about fruitful cooperation between Abkhazian and Russian medics

On February 23, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko told Izvestia about professional development of Abkhazian doctors in cooperation with Russian colleagues.

He informed about the opening of a resource for distance education, which allows to get acquainted with lectures of leading specialists, and the work of the Kuban Medical University directly in the outpatient department of the republican hospital.

"This communication is not just a joint examination of patients, it is also a learning process. There are leading specialists there: neurologists, cardiologists, pediatricians, who have the highest qualifications. And together with these doctors there is a process of training and counseling. So this is a planned work, which is being built," he commented.

According to the Minister of Health, such active cooperation began during the pandemic, when specialists from Russian medical organizations were actively involved in helping patients with the new coronavirus infection.

"Last year 8 thousand patients of Abkhazia <...> received help in Russian medical organizations. Every year funds are allocated for this type of payment for medical care," Murashko said.

He also added that he plans to make adjustments so that only two documents - passport and compulsory health insurance policy - are required to provide assistance within the framework of the agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia.

Earlier, on October 11, 2024, it became known that the Ministry of Health prepared a draft program of state guarantees of free medical care to citizens for 2025 and for the planning period of 2026 and 2027. It is planned to increase the volume of medical care to assess the health of citizens of reproductive age, thanks to which for the first time a comprehensive examination will be able to pass more than 19 million people.

Prior to that, on September 30, the Russian government submitted to the State Duma a draft budget for 2025 and for the planning period of 2026 and 2027. In its formation, the main goal was the fulfillment of social obligations to citizens.
