German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that he has no plans to participate in possible negotiations between the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and the Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) on the formation of a parliamentary coalition. "I will not be a representative of the SPD in the government of the FRG led by the CDU and will not negotiate," he said.
At the end of the February 23 Bundestag elections, the SPD party, of which Scholz is a member, received the support of only 16% of voters, its worst result.
On the same day, the head of the Greens, Robert Habeck, announced the loss of votes due to the willingness to negotiate with the CDU. On the same day, the German TV channel ZDF cited exit polls, according to which 29% of voters voted for the CDU/CSU. For the first time in history, the Alternative for Germany party (AdG) took second place in the Bundestag elections with 20% of the vote.
