- The head of the Greens said they lost votes because of their willingness to negotiate with the CDU

"Greens" lost votes because of the willingness to negotiate with the Christian Democratic Union (CDU/CSU). Party leader Robert Habeck said this on the air of ZDF on February 23.
"The other parties in the ruling coalition have indeed gotten it in the neck, but not us," he commented.
However, Habeck said the party's result cannot be called "super-successful," as the Greens lost two to three percent of the left because of their willingness to negotiate.
"We lost two to three percent of the left because we made this decision," he informed.
On the same day, German TV channel ZDF cited exit poll data, according to which 29 percent of voters voted in favor of the CDU/CSU. The party "Alternative for Germany" (AdG) for the first time in history took second place in the elections to the Bundestag, gaining 20% of votes. At the same time, Scholz's SPD gained only 16.5% of electorate support, its worst result ever.
Polling stations at early elections to the Bundestag in Germany opened at 8:00 (10:00 Moscow time) and worked until 18:00 (20:00 Moscow time). The right to participate in the elections had 59.2 million citizens of Germany.
