Planes that left for alternate airfields are departing to Sochi. This was reported on February 23 by the press service of the airport.

"Flights that have landed on alternate airfields are departing to Sochi, the first of them has already landed in Sochi," - informed in the Telegram-channel of Sochi airport.

It is specified that all services of the airport have been strengthened for the most operative service of flights in the period of mass arrival.

Earlier, more than ten flights flying to Sochi were forced to go to alternate airfields due to unfavorable weather conditions at the airport. To ensure flight safety, as of 20:00 (Moscow time) on February 23, 2025, the crews of 11 aircraft decided to leave for alternate airfields (Mineralnye Vody, Grozny, Vladikavkaz).

Earlier, on February 22, Azur Air flight from Sochi to Phuket was delayed for more than 15 hours due to difficult weather conditions. As a representative of the carrier told Izvestia, the initial reason for the delayed departure was weather conditions - heavy snow, and then the crew ran out of working hours. Passengers were offered accommodation in a hotel for the waiting time, and were also given hot meals twice.
