More than ten flights flying to Sochi were forced to leave for alternate airfields due to adverse weather conditions at the airport, the press service of the air harbor reported on February 23.

"To ensure flight safety, as of 20:00 (Moscow time) 23.02.2025, the crews of 11 aircraft made decisions to leave for alternate airfields (Mineralnye Vody, Grozny, Vladikavkaz)," - stated in the Telegram-channel of the airport.

It also added that the airport works on the actual weather and continues to serve passengers and airlines.

Aeroflot Airlines specified that due to strong gusts of side winds adjusted the schedule of six flights flying to Sochi, sending them to alternate airfields to ensure safety.

Thus, the airplanes flying SU1124 Moscow - Sochi and SU2919 Yekaterinburg - Sochi left for an alternate airfield in Mineralnye Vody. Flights SU1126 Moscow - Sochi, SU2957 Samara - Sochi, SU1610 Moscow - Sochi were diverted to Grozny. One airplane of flight SU1140 Moscow - Sochi will make an emergency landing in Makhachkala airfield.

Six more flights from Sochi to Moscow and Ufa (SU1071, SU1125, SU1127, SU2932, SU1141, SU1611) had to be delayed. Their passengers are provided with everything they need, according to the established rules.

According to the forecasts of meteorologists in Sochi and the federal territory of "Sirius" on February 23 and 24, adverse weather conditions are expected, as well as wind strengthening up to 18 m/s.

Earlier, on February 22, Azur Air flight from Sochi to Phuket was delayed for more than 15 hours due to difficult weather conditions. As a representative of the carrier told Izvestia, the initial reason for the delayed departure was the weather conditions - heavy snow, and then the crew ran out of working hours. Passengers were offered accommodation in a hotel for the waiting time, and were also given hot meals twice.
