US officials are putting strong pressure on Ukraine to sign a deal on minerals, the British newspaper Financial Times (FT) has reported on 23 February, citing officials and documents. This was reported by the British newspaper Financial Times (FT) on February 23, citing officials and documents.

"Ukrainian officials have so far rejected US demands to sign the agreement, but US officials are putting strong pressure on Kiev to insist on a deal," the publication said.

According to the publication, Ukraine believes that United States President Donald Trump 's attacks on Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky are an attempt to force Kiev into a deal.

It is also reported that the clause on 100% US control over the fossil financial fund has been removed from the agreement.

Kiev is still waiting for security guarantees from America to sign the agreement.

According to the newspaper, the current text of the draft includes "a lot of commitments from Ukraine and very weak proposals [from] the American side."

Earlier in the day, Trump said he was going to demand not only rare-earth minerals, but also oil and "everything he can get" from Ukraine. He stated that the European Union has the ability to get the money back, while the US does not.

On the same day it was reported about Zelensky's doubts about the rare earth metals deal with the US. It is noted that the agreement with Washington has not yet been finalized in order to sign it, and in its current form, the Ukrainian president will not be able to accept the document.
