Switzerland is ready to allocate peacekeepers to be sent to Ukraine if it receives a corresponding request. This was announced by the commander of the country's army, Thomas Züssli, on February 23.

"If we are assigned to participate in the mission, we will develop a concept for training and preparing our fighters for deployment. Then we will proceed with the recruitment and training of army personnel," he said in an interview with Sonntagsblick.

Züssli specified that in such a case the Swiss side could provide about 200 soldiers in 9-12 months.

The Wall Street Journal reported on February 23 that Britain and France were developing a plan to deploy up to 30,000 European peacekeepers in Ukraine. It is noted that the realization depends on whether it will be possible to convince US President Donald Trump on the limited role of American soldiers, which will be the support of the European Union in case of aggravation of the conflict.

In turn, the head of the Crimean parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, called the idea of sending European troops to Ukraine suicidal. According to him, Europe is unlikely to go for this.
