A passenger's backpack caught fire in the baggage compartment of a FlyArystan airline airplane on a flight from Astana to Aktau. The airliner returned and landed at the point of departure. This was reported by the press service of the airline on Sunday, February 23.

Flight attendants promptly eliminated the fire.

It is specified that there were 182 passengers on board.

"The airplane returned to the point of departure, the landing was performed normally. Additional information about the situation will be provided after clarification of all the circumstances," FlyArystan's press service wrote in its Telegram channel.

The flight was rescheduled for 17:10 (local time, 15:10 Moscow time), and passengers can take advantage of the right to free rebooking of the ticket or a refund.

Earlier in the day, Izvestia's source reported that the Nordwind plane, flying from Cuba to Moscow, made an emergency landing at Pulkovo airport in St. Petersburg due to the failure of one of its engines. Afterward, the airline's press service said that the plane landed safely.
