In Germany, electricity prices have risen by almost a third since 2021

Since 2021, the increase in electricity prices in Germany has averaged 31%. This February 22 follows from the results of the analysis of the comparative portal Verivox, cited by the Handelsblatt edition.
According to its data, now the average German family spends €5407 per year on electricity, although in 2021 these costs were at the level of €4121. This is due not only to rising prices for fuel purchases, but also to higher tariffs for gas networks, as well as increasing amounts of payments for carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels.
At the same time, heating costs have increased by 61% on average, reports "Gazeta.Ru", because the majority of buildings in Germany are heated by the increased price of gas. In addition, gasoline for the same period rose in price by 15%, and diesel fuel - by 21%.
Earlier, on January 13, the chairman of the party "Alternative for Germany", a candidate for Chancellor of Germany Alice Weidel said that the country has the world's highest prices in the energy sector, Berlin buys nuclear energy from Paris, and blackouts in Germany will continue. The politician emphasized that an industrial state cannot live like this.
Later, on February 16, The Economist reported that Europe is looking "greedily" at Russian gas. For example, Friedrich Merz, a candidate for German chancellor and leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), said he "cannot rule out the possibility" of returning to gas purchases from Russia.
The publication Focus reported on February 14 that gas reserves in German storage facilities are being used up faster than usual. Thus, on February 5, the country's large reservoirs were filled to 46.97%, the worst result since 2017.
