Hamas called on mediators to force Israel to release Palestinians


Hamas has called on mediators to press Israel to release Palestinian prisoners. Abdel Latif al-Qanua, spokesman for the Palestinian radical Hamas movement, made a statement to this effect on Saturday, February 22.
"We call on the mediators and guarantors of the agreement to put pressure on the occupation forces to honor the ceasefire agreement and implement its provisions without delays and delays," the movement's official Telegram channel quoted him as saying.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Tel Aviv postponed the release of 620 Palestinian prisoners until the freedom of the next Israeli hostages "without humiliating ceremonies." The release was supposed to take place on Saturday, February 22.
The day before, Hamas handed over six hostages to representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) noted that commanders and soldiers of the Israeli army welcomed and embraced the returning hostage.
Earlier, on February 21, it became known that Israel is going to release more than 600 Palestinian prisoners, including 50 people sentenced to life imprisonment. According to the agency, 445 prisoners from the Gaza Strip, who were arrested after October 7, 2023, will also be released.
