- Reshetnikov discussed trade and economic cooperation with the Prime Minister of Myanmar

Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov on Sunday, February 23, at a meeting with Myanmar Prime Minister Min Aung Hlaing in Nay Pyi Taw discussed the implementation of investment infrastructure projects within the framework of bilateral cooperation.
Trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Myanmar was also discussed during the meeting. Reshetnikov called the republic a long-standing and reliable partner not only in the Asia-Pacific region, but also in the international arena.
"In recent years, our countries have accelerated the pace of cooperation, moved to concrete projects and achieved serious results. In the first 11 months of 2024, the trade turnover between Russia and Myanmar increased by 40%, almost 1.5 times - by expanding the range of exports and imports," the head of the Ministry of Economic Development specified.
He noted that the Russian side exports mineral fertilizers, oil products and medicines, while Myanmar, in turn, exports rice, fruit jams, textiles and footwear.
As part of the business program, upon the arrival of the Russian delegation in Nay Pyi Taw on February 24, the 5th meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Myanmar Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation will be held, as well as a business forum and three thematic sessions. Bilateral meetings and negotiations of various levels are scheduled.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev said on February 19 that the trade turnover of agricultural products between Russia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in January this year doubled compared to the first month of 2024.
