A police officer was killed in an armed attack on a hospital in the US

A man with a gun and cable ties took hostages at a hospital in the US state of Pennsylvania, fatally wounding a police officer and five people before he was killed by law enforcers. This was reported by Reuters on February 22.
The attacker entered the hospital in York and made his way to the intensive care unit, where he took staff hostage. A nurse and a security guard suffered gunshot wounds and a doctor suffered burns.
According to District Attorney Tim Barker, the gunman and law enforcement officers exchanged gunshots after he entered the hallway holding a female employee at gunpoint with her hands bound.
The gunman killed police officer Andrew Duarte. Two other police officers were wounded and are in stable condition.
It is noted that the assailant, identified as 49-year-old Diogenes Archangel-Ortiz, was seeking treatment in the ICU this week "for a medical issue involving another person."
Earlier on February 3, two people were injured in a shooting that occurred at a train station in Paris. The perpetrator reportedly pointed a moulage gun in the direction of law enforcers, after which the police opened fire.
