Military servicemen evacuate residents of Ulakly settlement in the DNR

Soldiers of the 39th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Vostok group of troops have evacuated about a dozen civilians of the village of Ulakly in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) from under the shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on February 23.
Under the onslaught of the Sakhalin attackers, Ukrainian formations retreated, destroying everything in their path, including shooting civilians who refused to leave for Ukraine.
The command of the 39th Brigade decided to immediately evacuate people from the danger zone. The evacuation to rescue civilians to safety lasted more than a day.
Under the influence of the AFU FPV drones, the residents had to move from shelter to shelter, hide in basements and ruins during the artillery shelling. Ukrainian servicemen fired mortars at people, including two small children, and directed attack drones at them.
"During the storming of the Volokly locality, the assault units of our battalion found civilians. Taking them out through the settlement, the enemy 100% saw that they were civilians, because the girl is wearing a red jacket. It was immediately visible from the surveillance equipment. And still continued to work mortars in the same directions", - said the deputy commander of the battalion on the VPR under the call sign Partiya.
The servicemen took the people to the temporary accommodation center, where they were provided with clean clothes, sleeping places and hot meals.
"Everything was afraid, and my husband was afraid that they didn't come for us again. When we heard that bridges were being blown up, I thought that's it, they wouldn't come for us. <...> I went out, I heard someone. I went out, saw the guys, it said "Russia". I immediately: "please take me away, children", - shared Vera, a resident of Ulakly.
On January 22, it was reported that Ukrainian servicemen deliberately shelled the houses of civilians in Gornyak of the DNR because they considered them "separs". An eyewitness showed the film crew houses in Hornyak damaged by the AFU shelling.
