Leaders of the G7 countries may issue a joint statement on Tuesday, February 24, calling on the People's Republic of China (PRC) to stop supporting Russia. This is reported by the Nikkei newspaper on February 22.

In addition, the statement will condemn other countries that continue to cooperate economically with Russia.

A day earlier, experts predicted a G7 split on the issue of tougher sanctions against Russia. Valery Andrianov, an associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, also believes it is highly unlikely that the United States will support the imposition of additional sanctions against the Russian oil and gas sector.
