Washington intends to seek to block Kiev's resolution against Moscow at the United Nations (UN), Bloomberg news agency reported on February 22, citing sources.

"The US is trying to block the Ukrainian resolution condemning Russia for the <military operation> at the UN," the media outlet points out.

According to the agency, the administration of US President Donald Trump urged all UN members to instead support Washington's resolution aimed at finding ways to find peace between Kiev and Moscow, Gazeta.Ru adds.

It is also known that the US draft resolution does not stipulate the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, although they were clearly spelled out in previous UN resolutions supported by the US.

Earlier on February 22, US Secretary of State Mark Rubio said that the USA would present a historic resolution on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine to the UNGA on February 24. Rubio also reminded that President Trump is an adherent of the idea of a diplomatic solution to the conflict. The politician also attached a link to the message of the United States State Department, which contains details of the content of the resolution.

On February 20, Reuters reported that for the first time since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, the United States refused to co-sponsor an anti-Russian draft resolution of the UN General Assembly, which condemns Russia's actions and states a commitment to "the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders." As a result, they proposed their own document.
