State Duma deputy and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee Dmitriy Belik has said that the US threat to disconnect Ukraine from the Starlink satellite communication system is a black mark for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He said in an interview with RIA Novosti on February 22.

"Starlink for Ukraine is an oasis in the desert, if it disappears, the caravan will die of thirst. I am sure that Kiev also understands this and is aware of what a mutiny on the ship may end for them - hanging on a rack," the parliamentarian said.

According to him, the United States makes it clear to Zelensky that his opinion and the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) do not matter to Washington. Belik also emphasized that the United States is interested in negotiations and "what can be shaken out of Ukraine."

"Russia does not reject negotiations even with Zelensky, but everyone understands that it will not be a dialog of equals, but rather an instruction - where to put the signature," the MP added.

Earlier in the day, The Wasington Post (WP), citing the opinion of the former deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Olena Zerkal said that the idea of Zelensky to "pounce" with unflattering attacks on American leader Donald Trump was wrong. It is noted that the opinion of Zerkal was supported by the Chairman of the Ukrainian parliamentary Committee on foreign policy Oleksandr Merezhko.

Before that, on February 22, the British TV channel Sky News, citing a Ukrainian source, said that Zelensky was not ready to conclude a deal with the United States on the extraction of rare earth metals, as Kiev found "a number of problematic issues" in the draft agreement.

Trump said on February 21 that he had warned Ukraine of problems if it refused to sign a rare earth minerals deal. Later, the head of state expressed doubts about Kiev's availability of resources.
