Slovak president pointed out the impact of Trump's actions on the European continent

The actions of the new White House administration headed by US President Donald Trump should shake up the European continent. This was announced by Slovak President Peter Pellegrini on February 22.
He noted that nowadays a different language from the usual one is used in politics.
"Now it is more direct, less diplomatic, more insistent and calls things as they are presented or perceived by the speaker But I rather believe that this should shake up our country or the European continent," he said on the air of the program "Saturday Dialogues" on his YouTube channel.
The Slovak leader specified that he himself belongs to the category of people who see the current circumstances as a challenge and should "roll up their sleeves" and call to make Europe as strong as it used to be.
According to him, if Slovakia had been invited to the summit in France to discuss the possible sending of European soldiers to Ukraine, the state's representatives would not have come because "Slovakia's position is very clear" on the issue.
Pellegrini emphasized that French leader Emmanuel Macron looks out for countries whose representatives "speak the right language," as well as those who can sit at the same table "rather than those who have their own, sometimes more critical opinion."
When asked about his assessment of the new U.S. foreign policy, the Slovak president emphasized that the current administration is diametrically opposed to the previous one. According to him, this was evident at the Munich Security Conference, when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "already realized that he no longer has such a strong ally in the face of the United States." He also pointed to tensions between Washington and Kiev.
"I think Donald Trump is simply fulfilling what he stated before the election: his goal is to immediately put an end to hostilities <...>. They have already met with Russian representatives in Riyadh, where they discussed probably the outline of some new terms," Pellegrini added.
NBC reported on February 20 that the United States may reduce its military presence in Europe because of priorities in the Asia-Pacific region and the situation on the border with Mexico. According to them, the Ukrainian delegation is "stunned" because Kiev considers a possible reduction of the U.S. military contingent in Europe as a long-term threat to the country's security.
