The sixth hostage of the Palestinian Hamas movement was handed over to representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in its Telegram channel on February 22.

"Some time ago, returned hostage Hisham al-Sayed crossed the border into Israeli territory accompanied by IDF forces, and he is currently on his way to the initial reception center in southern Israel, where he will be reunited with his family members," the report said.

The IDF noted that Israeli army commanders and soldiers welcomed and embraced the returning hostage.

Earlier in the day, Hamas handed over three Israeli hostages to Red Cross officials. The process took place in Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip, Al Jazeera TV reported.

On February 22, Hamas had already released two hostages. The first of them had been in captivity for 10 years. Tal Shoham, who was kidnapped on October 7, 2023, and Avera Mengistu, who had been held in Gaza since 2014, were released, according to Kan TV and Radio.
