Sky News reported on Zelensky's doubts about the US rare earth metals deal

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not ready to conclude a deal with the USA on the extraction of rare-earth metals, as Kiev has found "a number of problematic issues" in the draft agreement. This was reported by the British TV channel Sky News on February 22, citing a Ukrainian source.
It is noted that the agreement with Washington is not yet finalized in order to sign it, and in its current form, President Zelensky will not be able to accept the document.
"The drafts do not reflect the partnership in the agreement and contain only unilateral obligations on the part of Ukraine," the source said.
At the same time, Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko (listed in the Russian Federation as a terrorist and extremist) said that according to his sources, the agreement in question will be signed not by the leaders of the countries, but by the heads of the foreign and diplomatic departments of the United States and Ukraine - Secretary of State Mark Rubio and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga, notes "Gazeta.Ru".
"My sources say that the agreement on minerals will be signed between Sibiga and Rubio," the MP pointed out in his Telegram channel.
US President Donald Trump said on February 21 that he warned Ukraine about problems in case of refusal to conclude a deal on rare earth minerals. Later, the head of state expressed doubts about Kiev's resources.
Reuters reported on February 22 that the US could cut off Ukraine's access to the Starlink satellite system, which is owned by US billionaire Ilon Musk's company SpaceX, after Zelensky's rejection of the rare earth metals deal. Losing Starlink would be a huge blow, the media source concluded.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that the US and Ukraine may sign an agreement on rare earth metals on Saturday, February 22.
