Ryabkov calls return of diplomatic property to Russia a priority in dialog with the U.S.

At the current stage of the dialog with the United States, Moscow 's priority issue is the return of six Russian diplomatic properties located on American territory. This was announced by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov on February 22.

"For us there is among the priorities what the media do not write much about - it is the demand to return to us the diplomatic real estate objects illegally arrested by the US side. There are six of them. <...> Here is one of the primary issues, one of the priorities that we will put before the American side," he said in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

He noted that the Russian side is also denied access to these facilities, which violates the provisions of the Vienna Convention. At the same time Ryabkov specified that the real estate is protected by diplomatic immunity, which is also ignored by Washington.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on February 21 that it was necessary for the United States and Russia to establish diplomatic relations, as well as to conduct a dialog between the states. In his opinion, it is necessary to restore the work of the US embassy in Moscow, which is now "barely functioning".
