NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte's position on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine is an example of bacchanalia. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on February 21.

"Of course, this is bacchanalia. Of course, this person - in this case Rutte - abuses, grossly violates his functional duties," he said at a press conference following the meeting of foreign ministers of the Group of Twenty (G20) in South Africa.

According to the Russian foreign minister, Rutte is actively pressuring NATO and European Union (EU) countries to subordinate their work to the "wishes" of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

"Not all NATO members support such a barefaced position, not everyone wants to continue spending money on arming Ukraine, not everyone wants to subordinate the work of both NATO and the European Union to the "desires" of Mr. Zelensky," Lavrov commented.

He also said that the Russian side has information that Zelensky is also under the influence of Rutte, who persuades him not to go to negotiations until certain conditions are reached.

On 17 February, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the participation of representatives of the EU countries in the negotiations on Ukraine in Riyadh seemed useless in the light of the current situation, as they had repeatedly shown that they did not intend to change their position on the conflict.
