Trump threatened Ukraine with problems if it reneges on mineral agreement
US President Donald Trump has warned Ukraine of problems if the country refuses to sign a deal on rare-earth minerals. The American leader said this to White House journalists on February 21.
"So we plan to either make a deal or we're going to have a lot of problems with [Ukraine]," he said.
Trump also emphasized that the U.S. needs to make an agreement in order to "ensure security."
On the same day, the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that it was necessary to finalize the agreement with the United States. Earlier, on February 20, Trump said about Kiev's disruption of the rare earth metals deal. According to him, the United States handed over $350bn worth of aid to Ukraine and now cannot get the money back.
