Scientists showed Putin a heart mesh made of "smart material"

During the forum "Technologies of the Future", domestic scientists presented Russian President Vladimir Putin with a special mesh for the heart made of "smart material".
"This mesh is a smart material. It is hard in one place and elastic and soft in another. It adjusts to the heart's vibrations, crimps it, and the heart begins to decrease in size," the head of the Kurchatov Institute, Mikhail Kovalchuk, told the President.
In addition, he also reported on the prospects of modernizing this development so that the material could conduct an electrical impulse and be used as a pacemaker.
Prior to that, Putin during the forum thanked the Kurchatov Institute for scientific activity. The President noted the effective work of the research center in the field of genetics and mentioned the possibility of creating underwater gas carriers.
