- Putin recommended not to hurry with the exchange of icebreaker construction technologies with the U.S.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has recommended the head of the Kurchatov Institute, Mikhail Kovalchuk, not to rush into technological cooperation with the United States in the field of icebreaker construction. He made this statement on February 21 during a tour of the Future Technologies Forum exhibition.
"It is necessary not to hurry... Hustle is needed only when catching fleas," the president said.
Kovalchuk, demonstrating the exhibition stand, told about the peculiarities of steel production for icebreakers, the structures made of which are able to retain strength for more than 50 years.
According to the head of the Kurchatov Institute, Russia has "a topic for a hypothetical conversation" on cooperation with the United States in this area.
On the same day during the forum, Kovalchuk pointed to Russia's advantage in the field of nuclear icebreaker fleet. He recalled that the Russian Federation is constantly working in the Arctic region. In addition, Russia has the largest population in this area - almost 2 million people.
