Tiger Zeus from Mariupol died in the Leningrad Zoo

Zeus, a tiger brought from Mariupol to St. Petersburg, died in the Leningrad Zoo due to heart failure amid the continuing deterioration of the animal's health. This was reported in the Telegram-channel of the zoo on February 21.
"Today we are forced to share the sad news. Unfortunately, the tiger Zeus, beloved by many visitors, could not bear the disease and passed away. The cause of his death was heart failure caused by an acute viral infection. Zoo veterinarians fought for his life for several days, making every possible effort", - reported in the organization.
It is noted that the tiger was born in 2022 in Mariupol, and in 2023 was delivered to the Leningrad Zoo. Already upon arrival, experts found a number of alarming symptoms in him, including rickets, pelvic collapse and predisposition to the development of chronic renal failure. He spent a long period of time in quarantine.
"On the morning of February 20, in view of multiple systemic internal organ disorders, the animal's condition began to deteriorate. Resuscitation measures, artificial ventilation of the lungs for 3.5 hours, indirect cardiac massage and intensive care did not yield positive results. The cause of death was acute heart failure associated with myocardial dystrophy caused by viral intoxication," said Innokenty Bulavinov, the zoo's chief veterinarian.
In May 2022, Rosgvardiya officers helped deliver Crimean fish to a dolphinarium in the Kherson region. Due to logistical problems, the animals were left without food, but thanks to the help of the Russian military, the dolphins' diet was restored.
